You've booked your photo session, YAY! - What now?

Often times the next step is the dreaded what am i going to wear. I have prepared a little walk through to help guide you in the right direction and to make sure you feel your best, so that you can look your best during your session!

Neutrals!

When picking out outfits for you and your loved ones, I find having the majority of people in neutrals helps, with the occasional pattern/texture. I recommend starting the outfit selection with one or two items that have patterns or textures and then building with similar coloured neutrals. Avoiding things like overly baggy clothing, conflicting patterns, and everyone in bold colours. Neutrals help keep the focus more on who's getting photographed as opposed to the clothing.

Feeling Confident

You often times are going to feel confident when you choose clothing that you enjoy wearing. Try to select items that you feel comfortable in (things that aren't digging into your side or too snug) I recommend selecting clothing that represents you! If you don't normally wear dresses, don't wear a dress. If you hate jeans, don't wear them. Find something that will make you focus on the memories being made during your session rather than the clothes you are wearing.

Shoes and Accessories

The same thing goes for shoes and accessories, choose items that you find make you feel confident and comfortable. Avoid trying things for the first time the day of the session. Also, make sure you take into account the location of your session, are you going to a rocky lakefront? I'd recommend either leaving the stilettos at home or bringing a secondary set of shoes to change into for before and after the shot to avoid injury.

Plan in advance

Try to take some time before the day of the session and lay things out next to each other, or better yet try them on and see how you like the way things look and feel. Take some time to figure out what works best for you and your family.
