Evening Family Session at Orono park

From the first time this family asked me to capture their family of 5, to continually documenting each beautiful new addition—close to 10 years later, their family has grown to 8! They wanted a location we hadn’t photographed yet while staying fairly local. When I suggested Orono Park, they said, “Let’s do it!”—and what a beautiful spot it was. The weather was perfect, it wasn't too hot or cold, and the lighting - beautiful.

We started with a few larger family shots, and with a few prompts, I was able to get them laughing, having a good time, and, most importantly, feeling relaxed. As we walked to the next area, I captured candid moments of the family strolling together. I focus on a mix of posed and candid shots, allowing you to get the genuine moments alongside the classic “hang on the wall” or “send to grandma and grandpa” style pictures—because I believe you deserve both.

Orono Park offered so many perfect spots for this session! There was a beautiful stream, a few bridges, and plenty of landscaped areas to use as backdrops. The open spaces gave the kids room to explore and play, making the photos feel both authentic and fun. Their outfits were beautifully coordinated, neutral enough to keep the focus on the family while complementing the natural tones of the park. We had such a fun time together. Their second youngest daughter was eager to run around, so we incorporated that into the session. One of my favourite shots captures all the kids running around their parents, giggling and enjoying the moment—the perfect depiction of letting kids have fun and the beautiful chaos of parenthood. These images truly capture their life right now and will be cherished as the years pass. Kids grow so quickly; as a newer mom myself, I know how precious these memories are. Having photos like these to look back on floods you with joy and the instant memories of when they were little come rushing back!
